Yeah after the front end is done so I can position the turbo in relation to my coilovers. I'll run a W2A Intercooler on top and make an air box for the drivers side where the stock battery is.

Unless I've got shitty compression as its an old motor lol.

Getting a bit warm in the shed. So ill upload some pics while i have a drink break.

Im going to sit the lower link crossmember against the transfer crossmember. So i chopped the front skid off. The idea then is any rocks should slide along the lower links and across the crossmember. In theory!

So this is where im up to. Crossmember tacked in place. Axle aligned under the car at bump. Mocking up my upper and lower links.

Hopefully get it all 80% done this week. Heres some pics.

with your turbos, have you considered hybridising a ct26?
use the turbine of a hdj80 and a compressor off a ma70 supra loadsa boost at relatively low spool speed

I haven't considered much. But open to all ideas.

Is it common? Easy?

buy one of each from the breakers and blend the two together, maybe pay the money and get a turbo specialist to build, reseal and balance it... still cheaper than a hybrid
Kinugawa do nice stuff, look em up on fleabay.. highbrid comressor wheels etc...

That's really interesting.... I haven't heard of that before. I heard of someone using a CT26 and it didn't spool til 3000rpm haha. But the supra hybrid would be mint.

Glad I found your build thread. Where have I been?  :screwy: I had to chop the bottom out of my sump to clear my high steer. It worked out pretty good.

Ill look in to it once ive got the car rolling on bump. Turbo wont help me build a car. Sounds like a cool setup though.

Haha! I was a little inactive for a while. Hot humid summer this year!

Its fairly common over here, im not sure how much they cut out though. Does it happen much in the states? Theres a lot of tall rigs that i assume clear by 6" haha.

I think he is talking about the 2L paperweight Steve. We never got the 2L-II, 3L or 5L. They were much better motors than the anemic 2L that left us with a sour taste in our mouth. I wonder if Toyota had sold the latter versions of the L series motor here if sales of diesel motors would have improved enough for them to have continued to offer them? Sorry for the sidetrack wafflelux. Can you tell we're a little bitter over here about the limited selection we get from Toyota?

Thats just it. you dont get a limited selection from Toyota. 4cyl,v6,v8 v6 hybrid, 6spd, 5spd manual and 6 spd auto and CVT ...gas is cheap, embrace it! quit whinin'
I am indeed on about the paper weight...slow compared to the other turbod options and v8's yes but think what was available in the US when it came out... everything has always been 100 hp plus.
Over here everything has always been dull and  so when an 81.8 hp diesel came out 'twas quick....(equivalent turd Rover was 60 if that hp) and continued to be until 96 when they turbo'd it.
we had the 2l or the 4y which was a 2.4 4cyl petrol squirting out 92 hp but you needed to re-mortgage to run it... i cant remember when they stopped the 4y but i have it in sales brochures till '90

The KD's have issues and the d4d V8 isnt as wonderful as you think it is... yeah it makes gobs of torque and hp but at the cost of reliabilty and it costs a crap ton.
So much so that they have withdrawn the 200 series from sale in the UK....

so, now we get 2.5 d4d manual or 3.0 d4d auto/manual. 3.0 only available on double cab. or piss off.
although you can now get an extra cab since '06. with a 2.5. or piss off.
