Those are some mean locks! We use them at work on gates. Out main gate the tumbler assembly took a dump and got the key hung up in it. It took a 4' pair of bolt cutters with 2 men on them to bust it.

I guess the material used to make the hasp. The issue with busting out a Metabo was the it was 5:45 in the morning. All the tools were in the shop except what we had in the toolboxes of our personal trucks. Luckily I happen to tote a pair of bolt cutters around.

Yesterday I got old blue tore apart and got to the heart of the problem.

The rod bearing on number 4 had spun. So we'll have the crank machined, put new bearings in her and patch her back together until all of the parts for her planned upgrade have been collected.

Got everything else tore apart completely today and checked everything out. No signs of damage anywhere else but that one rod bearing.

Measured the roundness of the rod with my calipers and it is very round even though the surface is a bit galled.

Yeah I'm having that done.

Machinist said that when the number 4 rod bearing goes out it's usually because it's been driven through water. I've never taken it through water, but I thought that was interesting.

Now that you mention that, when I had a bearing failure on an 81 block I know it was toward the back but don't remember which cylinder.  I'd had coolant leaking into the oil for about 1 1/2 years of driving before I finally swapped heads.  You've piqued my interest and I may hafta go drop the pan and see which one it is again.  Shame, cause it only had about 370,000 miles on it  :burnout:
