help with 4runner back window problem
« on: May 12, 2015, 09:08:28 AM »
Hey guys, I have an 87 first gen 4runner and the rear window will not roll up. I have been reading for the past three days on forums and have not found the issue.
I soldered in all new relays from radio shack.
jumped the switch in the center console
jumped the switch in the driver side where the shell bolts to it.

I can not find any cut wires and have tested the window motor and it works because I am able to jump it with 12v and some wires.

Any ideas? Thank you

There is also a switch inside the gate that opens the circuit when the gate isn't fully latched. Check that one too.  I am going to assume you made sure that you had good power and ground before doing all that other stuff. I had a bad switch at the key on mine, but I was still able to operate it from the forward switch.

This is the one problem that lets the runners down, ive got to rectify the relay issue, i had three control boxes lying round, all of them are shot.
Ive found panasonic relays to replace the factory ones so we'll see what happens.

I dont know much about electrical so I am learning on the go.. I tested for power at the switches in the center console, and none of them have power going to them.. When I tested the wires coming out of the driver side fuse panel, all have power but 2 of the prongs in the plastic connector. Not sure what this means
