Ring gear install
« on: May 06, 2015, 09:05:14 AM »
I recently put an aussie locker in place of my open diff and I've got it all back together to the point of putting the ring gear back on the carrier. Does anyone have advice on how to do this?  It's extremely tight and I don't want to beat on it and break a tooth.  I'm thinking of getting longer bolts the same size / pitch as the ones that hold the gear to the carrier, thread a nut all the way to the top, put them all thru the holes in the carrier and into the ring gear, then slowly thread the nut down against the carrier and pull the ring gear on...  I'd just rather do something simpler and faster (as no local stores have the right bolts) if possible.  Thanks!

Put ring gear in oven 200 degrees for 10-15 min, also make sure to take a fine finish file and file flat side of gear
