89+ pickups came with the 3.0s,  before that only 4x4s and motorhomes

if it was built in 88, it could be an early 89 model

Yes, build date of 88 came with the V6 in the 2nd gen body style. Owned a 4runner (1st gen) that had one in it, I'll never own a 3.0 again! But if you want to know then there should be a data plate on the firewall, fender or hood. Unless its been removed/swapped/painted... Or the VIN code will tell you with a little research. :beerchug:

Yea then it might be the stock motor.  I havent heard many good things about that 3.0 though.  From what ive heard and researched its liked by maybe 4/10 people.  Approval isnt too high.

I think the 3.0 are an ok engine when they have been taken care of or do machine work an use mls headgaskets an never worry again

I had a 90's 4runner 2.4 even with couple performance stuff 4.88's for 33's couldn't take hills but my 3.0 4runner ive got now was able to pull hills with ease now even though I popped head gasket I don't hate it nor do I love it

here in the next couple days ill be able to pop the hood see what's really under there it is a nice little truck other then it has 20" wheels   :reg:
