'81 axle ratio?
« on: Dec 08, 2014, 11:07:25 PM »
On my '81 Toyota 4WD truck,is the original axle ratio stamped anywhere,or is there supposed to be a tag somewhere that tells what gearing I have? As I understand it,there was a 3.90 and a 4.10 available, but they figure out so close I can't be sure which it has.

The data plate in the engine compartment will have an axle code....

Mine is G292  which translates into

G 8"
29 4.10
2  2 pinions

A   G072  would be    8"   3.90    2 pinions
