To Short Shifter or not to Short Shifter?
« on: Nov 11, 2014, 03:38:17 PM »
I almost had myself convinced to get a short shifter for my 89 4Runner and then had the thought that I hardly drive it anymore and I've been running a standard shifter in my Toyota's for almost 15 years so is it really worth it?  Now that it's a 3rd vehicle, 500 miles in a year would be high (I'm going to Moab in the spring so it will spike for one year with the 2,200 mile round trip), the past couple of years have been about 200 miles.  Is it really enough of a benefit to spend the $200ish on this vs. something/anything else.
1989 4Runner: Dual Ultimate (Inchworm front & Marlin 4.70 rear), Marlin Twin Stick, 1200-lb clutch, 4.88 R&P, Aussie Front, Detroit rear, 30-spline Longs, Long hub gears, ARP hub and knuckle studs & 35x12.50 Cooper STT PRO tires.  Marlin rear bumper & sliders.  FROR front bumper.  SAS with Alcan springs & Rancho 9000XL shocks.  Budbuilt Bolt-on traction bar.  Custom Interior Cage by Those Guys Rod and Customs.

Moab Tested & Rubicon Approved
