R150F HD input shaft leaking. Help!
« on: May 19, 2014, 07:17:07 AM »
Hello,

I've got an 04 Tacoma 4wd with a turbo'd 3RZ-FE turbo that I had Marlin build a heavy duty R150F for. I've only put about 600 miles on it since the tranny install. Everything has been great with it until I was out driving it last weekend and my brand new 6-puck metalic race clutch started slipping when I was making any more than 10 pounds of boost, so I knew I had a problem. After further inspection I noticed some fluid dripping from between the bell housing and dust cover. I pulled the tranny yesterday and confirmed it was transmission fluild, and it had been coming out of the main input shaft. I've never seen inside of one of these trannys, is there a seal I can replace? What do you recommend to remedy this issue? I'm afraid the slippage glazed my clutch on the pressure plate side, may have to replace it. The pressure plate looks pretty glazed as well, not sure it those can be surfaced like a fly wheel or not, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-Trevor

Call Marlin's shop. Isn't there a warranty?

The input seal is in the backside of the bolt on plate on front of trans case. The one the snout for the TO bearing sticks off of. It can be unbolted and the seal replaced. The plate itself is usually sealed with FIPG.

There is a reason it leaked so soon though. Better call the shop and not ruin your warranty.
