Looking for new truck or car
« on: Mar 29, 2014, 11:44:32 PM »
Price needs to be somewhat low since I just bought a house, and I'm not afraid of a proper project.

Several possibilities to consider.  Should be near redding, ca and would preferably be stock.  No turds.

1979-83 2wd toyota truck.  79-80 prefered.  Diesel a big plus.  Prefer short bed but will take long bed.  3/4 ton is ok.  Should run well and pass smog and have nice cab and an interior that doesn't smell like the cat lady.

1984-89 4runner.  No 1990-95 runners.  Should smog and drive well and have complete un-thrashed interior.

1996-03 4runner.  Same as above.

Any year tundra or sequoia.  Same as above.

2000ish or newer subaru.  Should run well, smog and not be thrashed.

Any year datsun 240z.  Anything non-rust-buckety considered.  Would even consider clean 1975 280z.

Almost any year landcruiser or lexus lx450 considered, condition depending.

Mid 70s celica hatchback, condition depending.

I have a 1991 land cruiser in good shape has 284k miles but still in good shape only needs minor things like front brakes pads/rotors and some other small things.
I'm not super close to redding but its not out of the question far.

Are you tahoe/reno-ish?  I seem to remember seeing this last pic in an ad on reno cl at some time.  What are you looking to get for it?  With it being a 91 I assume it has center lock but not diff locks?

I'm in Arnold CA, it was on gold country craigslist like maybe 6-8 months ago, and I decided not to sell at the time so I removed the ad. it was never in reno or tahoe as far as i know, I bought it in sacramento.

yes center diff lock and no real lockers. It's my DD and just turned over to 285k miles today.

I'd like to get 3500 but make me an offer. I paid 4000 for it in early 2013 with 268k miles on it.

Travis, I don't remember if I got back to you or not, but I would need locking diffs to offset the terrible mileage of the big pig.  Thanks, though!

And bump.  Just put out an ad on craigslist since nobody who posts ads on there seems to know how to answer their phone or return messages.
