Topic: 82 Toyota Pickup "Restoration"

Newbie here. I am in the beginning stages of "restoring" a 82 Toyota 4wd longbox pickup. My father in law and myself are tackling this as a project. I have searched the forum and have not yet found the answer to my question, so I figured I would post it here.

Right now I can get the truck to start by putting fuel in the carburetor but it is not picking up fuel from the fuel line. I know that it can be a million different things. The vehicle has been sitting for a couple of years but was running when parked. Is it likely bad fuel pump or clogged fuel tank?

Second question, right now I believe the brakes on the truck are locked up. It will not roll. Any tips on breaking them loose?

The first thing that you might look at is the fuel pump. If the fuel is 2 years old, Remove the fuel tank skid plate, and drain the old fuel. You can purge the system by removing the fuel line from the fuel pump, and slightly pressure the tank with a rag and air hose until fuel reaches the pump. If that doesnt work, pull the fuel tank and check the fuel pickup screen. Keep us posted, Good Luck!

I started thinking, on a stock Toyota Carb, there is a glass sight float bowl level. Do you see gas in the carb? Maybe the float valve is gummed up? Check this out before all the other stuff, Its easier.
