Howdy all,
Steve from Alaska here.
Got a 98 Tacoma with 130k, 3.4l, 5spd. Looking mainly to go overlanding and some backcountry touring in the 4 corners area.
Learned quite abit just lurking, and as the mods progress, I hope to learn more about these fine trucks and their capabilities. I'm currently the midst of an OME suspension lift, with some 16 x7 steelies, and some bigger tires, so I can upsize to Tundra discs in the future.
Main uses will be some backcountry, trailering as well as hauling a fair amount of gear, so there is a regearing and a locker in the cards as well. The truck  has 3.91 stock so maybe add a second transfer case to strike a balance between power and mpg.
Another project in the works is an 85 Toyota SR5 LWB,  22R, 5 spd, that will get some basic mods as well.
Looking forward to learning alot and having some fun in the backcountry.
Thanks for the benefit of all your experience.
Cheers

Welcome! Sounds like you have a good start to a project there. I lived in Palmer and wheeled up there for four years in my 84, always surprised people how well it did with some 31"ltbs. Good luck on the builds.
