Heater hose question
« on: Jan 22, 2014, 07:10:23 PM »
Why is more than one piece used where the heater hose connects to the metal line? As far as I know this is how they came from toyota.

Also, I have a flush T a few inches past the bend above, not shown in the pic, and was going to look for a 90 deg. hose to replace the multi piece one from the T to the metal pipe. If anyone else has done this and has a part number that  would work that would be great.

Correct, the 2 lower clamps have been replaced, the top one should have been too I have to crank it down hard to keep it from leaking. The reason I believe it to be factory is that I have seen pictures of others who have the same setup as mine, also this quote is from 22re performance heater hose kit "Heater core to pipe (long enough to eliminate the extra “extender” 4 clamp ordeal for you 4X4 guys)"

My 86 never had 2 pieces there.

I wonder if it's a 2WD vs 4WD difference.

Originally the 2WD hose was too short for 4WD trucks and they just added an extender until they made a longer 4WD hose.....

So it sounds like getting the hose for an 85+ might do the trick.

Did a quick search and I believe that small hose is called an auxiliary hose.
