Weird Issue with 22r
« on: Dec 28, 2013, 08:19:54 PM »
so my 22r has been ticking really bad ticking when it heats up, normally a good 20 mile drive does it. its a mix between a valve tick and a fluttering exhaust leak. As soon as i pull off of the freeway though and let it idle for a minute or two its gone...sounds like a perfect engine.

I've readjusted the valves and checked for an exhaust leak but no luck. any suggestions. (don't know if this relates but after shutting off the car i get this odd smell, similar to the fumes you get right after you weld a piece of metal)

That is interesting. I had an issue where i thought my motor was spinning a rod. Then it would go away. It turned out to be a bearing in my trans. Just throwing it out there. Good luck.
