Does the independent suspension keep the center of gravity more in the middle of the truck vs. solid axles that kinda shift the truck body from side to side?

Please don't get all scientific and technical on me. CG, roll center, etc.
I just want more ground clearance and more wheel travel for dodging rocks and running in the snow. Neither are fast or really to critical for cg. Oh, and I love building stuff.

Not building a long travel setup, not a pre-runner, snow wheelin and mountain trails is the goal use. Not saying the same idea couldn't be use with higher end parts. When i did research most feedback is either desert fast or Ultra4 design. I do neither and most of what they build for is a LS* something something. Just trying to get a little more clearance, a little more travel and a better ride all in all. I hope.

I get what you are saying here. i originally was planning on a fun non racing truck too that could be smooth over rough terrain up to 30 MPH nothing too fast just be able to run fire roads and gravel at a decent speed.

I was just using their designs and technology and trying to find a cost effective way of accomplishing my goal.

another point i researched alot is torsion springs. I think most people give them a bad rap because they are less tunable than coilovers but they can perform pretty decent with the right shock valving. i found that as a way to achieve my objectives more cost effectively than coil overs.

just another point to think about.

Moving into a bigger shop so this will get going again. Right now I'm so cramped up I can hardly turn myself around let alone finish this buildup.

Yeah I know the feeling. My garage has turned into kitchen remodel central instead of rig building. Sure puts a cramp on projects. How big is the new shop?

Well I have not worked on this lately, I needed to modify my mount sub-frame and had to wait on the plasma tale at work to get setup and running. Then I went on vacation, then I took a job back in Washington State so I've moved back into my house there with the 24x48 shop and start the new job Aug 4. I did 3 trips of stuff 2 pickup and trailer and 1 26ft UHaul and trailer to get everything here. The Toy is still sitting on the trailer and I hope to get it unloaded this weekend, next is getting the shop set back up to a functional state. And then the fun will begin.

The Toy is back home, parked inside in the shop where it belongs. I now can get a started back into this.

I have most of the parts and look at trying to mess with it some more this summer. It's been a crazy past year with the move from WI back to WA. I do want to do this. I have a line on a different front diff which should be stronger and easier to adapt axles to.

I hear you there. I have so many plans and dreams but never time to actually build them. I have a t100 I want to do a long travel build on and have owned it for 4 months and it hasn't even moved out of the yard.
