1UZ vs 2/3RZ size comparision
« on: Oct 06, 2013, 04:38:08 PM »
So I found some photos of the overall size of a 1UZ, it pretty much fits in a 26" box, doing a rough measure of the 2RZ in my '82 it looks like the 1UZ would have plenty of room and is shorter which would mean more front diff clearance. I can't remember seeing anyone doing a 1UZ in a 1st Gen. Did I miss this in all my searches?

You're doing a V8 swap now....?  The 2RZ hasn't been in there long...

Reasons?

Well I really really like the 2RZ all in all and if I was still in the PNW I'd keep it, but here in the Midwest I need more hp for all the short little hill runs since that's all there is. Also I dream of a 1UZ-A650 combo-dual cases- and get this a Supra front diff IFS. Maybe it's cuz I just like building stuff. I really would prefer to build a buggy but that's probably not going to happen.
Tis won't happen soon I plan on running the crap out of the 2RZ, but I'm always thinking of what's next.

Knowing what I know now, I would never put a 2/3RZ in my truck. It would be a 1UZ every time. The 1UZ weighs pretty much the same as the 3RZ and delivers almost twice the output.

I love my 3RZ, and I like the mileage it gives.  But I would like more power as well, since I just bought some 35" Toyo MTs....  Heavy, man......

And when did you move from PNW? Last I heard you were still in East Wash. or Idaho?

I moved to the flatland of Wisonsin January of 2012, great job. But I WILL return. 22yrs at the same factory in Idaho was sucking my will to live so I did a drastic change. So now the wife and I are enjoying all the cheese and brats you can eat and the ever present smell of cow manure. We still have the "estate" in SE WA to move back to.
