One question about the rear springs. I have a procomp lift on it blocks in the rear.
I want to scrap the blocks for springs . I was thinking of doing the 63" chevy spring swap.
I have seen they get around 3-3.5" of lift are they really worth doing or should I get some better springs?

I can't comment on a Chevy spring pack, but after doing my research I ordered a set of Alcan springs today.  I am getting 3.5" lift springs that I am planning to run a 2" extended shackle with to match my 4.5" Superlift front springs.  I replaced my old 3.5" Pro Comp lift (blocks in the rear) with the 4.5" Superlift (rear springs).  I like my front springs, but the arched rears are horrible.  In my opinion, you only options are a longer spring like All Pro, Marlin, AOR (Alcan built), Alcan directly or a Chevy type swap if you want a soft ride and flex.  All of the kits like Superlift, Pro Comp, Skyjacker etc. keep the stock spring rates and increase the arch creating a very stiff spring that doesn't flex well and rides like the springs are angle iron.  AOR springs are made my Alcan but take months to arrive and are very expensive.  Marlin and All Pro are similar designs, the Marlin springs are fairly new on the market and I have heard that the All Pro springs tend to sag quickly.  I chose to order directly from Alcan because I chose to get springs that use the factory mount locations.  I know this isn't the best configuration for flex; however, for my purposes it will give me the best on-road handling and still have exceptional offroad performance.  Tom from Alcan told me that the longer springs tend to lay down more in the corners causing body roll.  He builds both types (stock and 5"+), but suggested the stock length for my needs.  He said to expect them to be shipped in three weeks or less.  Just my  :twocents:

Metal was getting long and rusty so I decided to do some trimming today.

I removed the front valence and trimmed the front fenders to fit my 36's.
I will be adding a Class III receiver to the front right between the frame rails and trimming the front bumper some so I can fit a mulitmount winch.

I will trim the back of the fender as necessary when I get the 36's.

I also trimmed a portion of the bed to reveal a crap load of rust on the bed. Well I can't afford a new bed yet I will likely cut out a good portion of rust and repair it with some aluminium or some peices of metal either welded in or riveted in for now.

The bed will be also bobbed with about 13" removed from it. So I am not done yet with it.

I kinda liked the idea of stone4x4's bed so I copied some of his... :king:

Ya well that ain't happening in a while I don't have that kind of cash to fork over for steel and welding and fabrication.
Also I found out yesterday my left front spring is broke.
It was kind of hidden by the u-bolt when I moved the truck and parked it again.
I noticed it was kinda low on the drivers side I looked and sure enough broken front spring..
ugg it never ends... :smack:  I want to actually go wheeling...

36 TSL's never happened. I went in yesterday and they still didin't have em. They told me maybe next thursday. I had it I was like I have been waiting 3 weeks for these friggin tires.

They gave me 3 choices of other tires they could get overnight.
BFG MT, Yokahama MT, Or some kind of generic General tire.

I decided to go with 35x12.50 BFG MT's at $177 ea.

It cost me $23 less per tire than the 36x12.50 Swampers TSL's that they were charging me $200 ea which I think they were overcharging me for anyways.

The guy didn't charge me to mount or balence the new 35's though.

I kinda feel like I got short changed in a way but I guess it's better than getting ripped off and paying more for TSL that should of cost $175 not $200 ea.

I put them on they look great like they belong on the truck.
Ever notice BFG's are skinny I had them mounted on a 8" rim and it looks like a 10-11.5 wide tire.
Anyways I'll get pics up tomorrow sometime.

Ugg I just did a 1" body-lift and looked at my truck again it looks small even with 35's.
Maybe I should have done 37's or 38's I should have known this tire bug was gonna happen.

5.29's and 38's do just fine both on road and off.  Ill take a 22re with 38's over a 350 and 38's any day for wheeling or on road driving.  The only place that the re loses is in the mud and in general acceleration.  Otherwise the re rules.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??
