V6 axel swap question....
« on: Sep 05, 2013, 03:38:13 PM »
OK I have located a v6 rear axle for my project "85 ext. cab pickup"  I have decided to go With the v6 Axel instead of wheel spacers. My question is will I need to move spring perches or will they line up and is the brake assembly the same lengths or will I need it off of the donor v6??   I've searched through many forums and haven't found this info yet... The year of the v6 pickup is 1988 4x4.   And mine is an 85 4x4...  Thanks guys  :usa:

The perches will line up but there are two different widths. Measure your springs and measure the perches on the axle you are getting. You may have to replace them anyway depending on your D-line angle.

You will also need the brake lines and e-brake cables since the axle is wider.

You will have better braking since the IFS Axles have bigger brakes in the rear.
