T-case splines for a v-8
« on: Mar 15, 2005, 08:27:10 PM »
I came across a screaming deal on an adaptor for a TH 350-Toy t-case. It is a 21 spline adapter. My front case is 21 spline and my rear is 23, idealy,I'd like to run 23 on both but at this point cash is the limiting factor. Question is, how well will the input hold up from a 250 horse small block. I am thinking I will do okay since the front case won't see a ton of reduction. Any input is appreciated.

I would run it,,if thats what ya got then your off to a good start..I would for sure go 23 spine in both cases..Myself i would not wait to stuff the 23  spline..Do it now while the rig is aprt..Beats having it fail on the trail,,and less work to pull it apart later on..

That's what I know I should do but cash is getting tight. I think I can get away with it for awhile but it is definately on the top of my to do list.

I never had any issues with the 21 spline case and adapter in my 84 and I beat the ever loving $hit out of it!  With a doubler setup I would leave the rear input 23 spline of course and not worry about it.  The rear case see's more torque than any other component before the drivelines.

Use a 4 speed input in the front, just grind down the lip towards the end of the splines. Total Spline strength for your 21-spline needs.

Yup, its got a form of total spline.  To use it behind anything but a l43 you have to grind the splines a bit. sot he case and the trans will mate up all the way.
