That last pic is truly amazing. If I'm not mistaken, the striking white exploding-cloud-like structure is called an ice cap. When the fire initially takes off in a big way, so much moisture is released from the trees that it rushes upwards, condenses and sometimes even freezes into that huge white formation. I've seen them before and they are beautiful but also pretty darn scary when you think about what creates them.

I first thought you got a new rimfire firearm!   :rofl2:

But then the pictures showed otherwise.  I hate seeing forest fires.  Especially when started by man.

it grew from 16,000 ac last night to 53,000 ac this morning then tonight its at 63,000 acres its growing fast and im getting worried, but we have everything ready to go if need be  :burnout:

I live in pml/groveland and the fire got to within a mile away. Now it's looking a lot better by my house although I'm worried about all the people in the direction the wind is blowing.

well its getting closer to the town I was in 2 days ago  :yupyup: but they said voluntary evacuation so I volunteered to evacuate  :cheese: all of our important stuff is out, the smoke was just to thick for me to live in (inhaler )  :crazy:

I feel bad for everyone affected by this fire.... or any wildfire, for that matter. We've had more experiences than I'd wish an anyone, luckily only one that forced evacuation. Didn't know until we got home whether the house would still be there. It was.

Ya a sheriff told me I had to leave but I wasn't about to. The resin being all it take is one litle ember to burn down your house so if your there to stomp it out you have then saved your house. Idk jest my opinion.

smoke + inhaler = go away :yupyup: the smoke is less thick where we are so the house is on it;s own, I have a metal roof and alum. siding so I have a better chance than most I guess, I go back everyday to check on things and it's still there so that's good, 149,780 acres have burned, 3,414 fire fighters are battling the blaze, 15% containment

We lost my beloved Berkley Tuolumne Camp today.

Been going for about 6 years now, to the last weekend of the year, where old campers/staff put on a blues weekend, and we all just chill, and enjoy life, and eat. The place is 91 years old.

Serious tragedy, one of my favorite places to visit. Hopefully it will be rebuilt.
