Injection Pump 1L, 2L, 2L-T
« on: Jul 28, 2013, 11:49:44 PM »
So the 83 Toyota I have with a 1L or Possibly a 2L ?? (Truck was built June of 83 and has had a new engine put in by P/O. )  The top cover has a leak, looks like the seal dried out and shrank. I need info on getting a gasket set for the pump. It looks like all the seals and gaskets I need are in a 5.9 Cummings (early dodge 12 valve diesel p/u's)injector set.
Also what are the differences between the pumps on the 2L and the 2LT (turbo)? Is the only difference that the vacuum port on the very top is vented to the air and on turbos it is vented to the manifold pressure increasing fuel pressure?

Thank you

OK I am learning more about the diesel injection pumps that Toyota uses. The same basic pump is used in all the older diesels. VE-pumps are all basically the same design. luckily the gasket I need seems to be the same on all the pumps!.
Any one have any ideas where I can find gaskets?

  Thanks
