Locktite on wheel spacers?
« on: Mar 14, 2005, 10:29:36 AM »
Should I locktite my wheel spacers?  ???
I've heard of one case of the wheel falling off cause someone did not use locktite.
Also what is the torque? Same as lug nuts?

Ive heard the same thing, but I just torqued mine down correctly and I even rechecked them the next time I pulled my tires off and they were still properly torqued.

I did not loctite mine and they are still holding the correct torque.

Yes, the torque is the same. I dont know what it actually is, but I torqued everything to 85 ft-lbs.

I Loctite my wheel spacers.  I figure a little insurance never hurt and they haven't come loose.

No Loctite torqued to 90-95 lbs. I check mine often and are always up to torque.

I locktite mine juts in case.  I check them every month or so and they are still tight.  Torqued them to 90 i think.

Ok, so I used blue lock-tite when I put on my spacers, do I still need to check the torque?

Really not fond of the whole "Wheel fell off" thing

Chris posted some info a while ago,,some of the older spacers did not have the correct lug nuts..The new ones had a small flange on them.I think marlin now has them in stock..
Forgiveness is between them and god..
Its my job to arrange the meeting!

Nope it's not a helicopter.
Locktite works fine. Besides would you want to get in there with a small drill and drill small holes in very nut then saftey wire the whole thing?
it's a biotch.
I remember all the fun times I had saftey wiring and prosealing things on the UH60 blackhawks. Ahh those were the days...

I run 2" wheel spacers from no other than Marlin.  I also run 2.5" backspaced wheels with 37" MTR's.  I use red loctite and have NEVER had an issue with mine coming loose.  I wheel the hell outta my rig when I get to go and I have had my Runner over 70 mph. on many occasions and have never had an issue.

I will say though that if you gotta get em off, you may have to lay down the purse and put some muscle into it to get the nuts to break loose.

Nothing against wheel spacers but you could always put IFS hubs on instead.  Get some more width and upgrade your brakes at the same time.
