Newbie: need advice on spare parts
« on: Jun 19, 2013, 08:58:41 PM »
Hi All,
I'm relatively new to rock crawling.. about to run Fordyce for the first time with the local club.  Have spare pants ready!   I have a 94 Cummins Landcruiser - on 33in tires and a 4in lift.  Am starting to stock pile spare parts.   Anyone have advice on what to have?  My list includes tie rods/tie rod ends, and u-joints for the rear drive shaft.

I've been adviced to upgrade the stock steering linkages - but am not clear what I should get from the Marlin site.  Am busy reading up http://www.fourwheeler.com/techarticles/129_0404_toyota_crossover_steering/viewall.html to educate myself, but would appreciate any guidance.  Below are pictures of the underside.

 :hahaha:

Spare Pants.  I have wheeled  (what I thought was a crazy) trail here and once in Montana as well.

I think I would need some "Depends" to ride shotgun, after seeing pics of how some of these guys wheel here.

I have been in the rubicon with my 95 80 on 35s with open difs and it does pretty good. I would remove the tow receiver as that was pretty much in the way on the last trip. My drive lines both have granite marks so keep an eye on them.
These trucks are built really well and I have had no issues with mine if you take it easy it'll do fine.
It's going to drag on the rocks a bit just be aware of what your dragging.

Thanks Blumagoo,
Will take it easy for sure, perhaps move the spare tire based on your tow receiver point.
