twin cases on an Auto, 88 4RNR
« on: Jun 17, 2013, 02:14:58 PM »
Hey all, just did duals on an auto. Now the issue is what to do about an E-brake?
Can't find an application for Xfer case E-brake, prob have to cut floor to fit anyway.
Looked into line locks, hear good and bad.  Not sure yet.
Also hear Eldorado mod are not so good either.
Running disc conversion from NW Offroad

Input?  Really need to work this out so I can PASS TLCA safety insp.

What T-cases are you running? If both are gear drive the A-P or Sky brake will work. I did not have to cut the floor when I installed the A-P t-case brake on my 90 ex-cab.

Are they both gear drive cases? The A-P and Sky kits both bolt to the gear drive case only.

If you go with a line-lock get a mechanical activated one not an electric activated one.

Yes, both gear drive cases.  I wonder why every site I have found says for 4cyl gear drive only. No application for V6 or AUTOMATIC?!!!

And would you explain why you say Mech over Elec.

The T-cases you have are 4 cylinder. That is why you have an adapter to hook them up to the tranny.

Electric have to have power to them to stay on all the time. They were designed for drag racing to be used for doing burn-outs and launch off the line on green light. I do not know about the newer ones, but the older ones if the were powered all the time the solenoids would burn out.
