Topic: L 52 transmission upgrade? 1982 4X4 toyota pickup

HI I am the owner of a 1982 toyota pickup 4X4 with a 5 speed L 52 manual transmission. I have heard that these transmission aren't the greatest and am currently deciding if I should get it rebuilt( it pops out of 1st and 3rd). I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a better transmission that I could swap it with. It could be a 4 or a 5 speed, just something that is more reliable in the long run. Also with little to know mounting modification. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes.  Buy a L52HD from Marlin or mod your floor and get a W56 or R151F or an R150F.  Think through your t-case set up (forward / shift or gear or chain driven). 

My 2 cents: fix it when it's broke, not earlier. Good luck!
