I can talk all I want, because I give advice on good solid welding procedures. If you want  to do shitty welds, so be it. But anytime you want to do a full pen weld, you need to bevel, inner sleeve or no inner sleeve.
I know for a fact, that a bevel, with no sleeve is just as strong or stronger then the base metal.  You need to get that weld to go through the full thickness of the metal on a spice.

I never said that I dont bevel it along with the sleeve.  Obviously you need to bevel it to get full pnetration, plus I also put a sleeve in for extra strength.  If it does not get a sleeve and that tube sees stress under a rollover, it will snap at the weld instead of being able to flex and bend.  An inner sleeve allows the material to flex more before breaking.  If I'm in a rollover I would much rather have my cage bent than broken.  Its the difference between thinking about safety and not caring

Its not gonna snap at the weld. The weld is stronger then the tube.
I made some alumnum raft frames for a guy
And I know youre gonna say, its aluminum not steel. But its still the same really.  Pound for pound they are the same strength.
I did some testing. I welding two pieces together and put one end in my trailer hitch, with a cheater bar on the other end, both about 2 inches from the weld. No bevel it broke very easy. Second time I did a bevel and it just bent the tube.

thanks!  Im using a JD2 Model 32 manual bender with an air over hydraulic ram conversion.  for this project I used 1 1/4" pipe sized tube (1.66 OD).  The die is a full 180 degree die with 4 1/2" radius

Nice fab work!!!!

junya92toy I know that you know what you are talking about but sometimes the way you answer is very annoying, sort of like I know everything, you know nothing. I was building Top Fuel dragster frames before you were a gleam in your Daddy’s eye and yes if we screwed up and had to cut, it was beveled and sleeved, that was required by NHRA.

Also clean up your language, it is right in the terms and conditions that you agreed to. Marlin does not appreciate foul language, this is a family BB. You want to do that kind of stuff, go to PBB!!!

Isn't the idea of this forum all supposed to be about learning so we can make our builds better and feed off others ideas for our own trucks or help them out with our knowledge? (Provided we have knowledge or experience to do so) Not needed to put anybody down or try to be better then anybody. I always love your work pumkin toy, you're an artist with a welder & tube bender.
