I am hoping to order a w56E tranny during the sale. What is the difference between the regular and heavy duty option?
For the W56-E, the Heavy Duty option gets maximum capacity bearings throughout (higher load and temperature ratings for longer life), one of which is also oversized so we perform case modifications to fit it, and we modify the center retainer plate to further aid the maximum capacity bearings in reducing the end play of the counter and output shafts to prevent "falling" or "popping" out of gear after thousands and thousands of miles of use. Also like with other HD builds, we include our Heavy Duty Shifter Seat and Socket, install additional magnets in key locations to collect debris, tighten up each gear, and do some special tricks that Marlin has perfected over the years that we don't do to non-HDs. We actually should raise the price on the HD builds but we are trying to maintain our legacy price point by streamlining other areas of the transmission department. In my opinion it is 100,000% worth the extra $ for what we do for the HD. I run a W56-A-HD in my personal rig.
