Topic: FJ40 knuckle identification

Hey guy's I'm a newbie and am having a problem figuring out which knuckles I have on my swamp buggy. It is a FJ40 front differential but I do not have brakes to determine which year range it might be from. I need to rebuild both knuckles but can't figure out which kit to get. Thanks

By the way the axles are Birfields not ball and claw.

1979 is the changeover year..     1978 and back had the small bolt pattern knuckles and 1979 and newer had the larger bolt pattern knuckles..    sorry, i dont have the measurement to determine the size.. just google it..

the birfs are also a little shorter on a 78 and earlier as well as the locking hub bodies are a slightly different size..
