'81 4x4
« on: Oct 09, 2012, 09:49:29 AM »
Hello everybody.

I'm a total newb.

My uncle purchased an '83 4x4 brand new off the line which he then sold to me when I was 15. I had the truck until I was 19 and sold it like the young, dumb :moon: I was back then.

Now I'm grown up and can afford a toy. I bought a '81 4x4 with a Marlin Crawler kit already installed. I do not know anything about this except what it is designed to do.

I bought this rig over a year ago. Once I got it home and into the garage, i began to do some standard checks of vital components. Fast forward to 3 monts later, I had the entire front end disassembled, as well as the entire cooling system needed replacement. The most picturesque moment was definately the moment when I had the rig on Jack stands, my entire garage draped in plastic, holding a pressure washer to try and rid the front axle housing of the mud that penetrated the comprimised seals.

Oh, lord, this has been a child that has required much attention and love. I am schedule to pick up my rig this week as ended up towing it (without a front axle :) ) to a mechanic to finish the assembly. I have pictures that I will be posting. I have very limited knowlege and a tad of experience that I hope can be of some use to somebody. But I can say that I have a bad ass rig!!!

Thanks everybody, in advance for all the help that you will give me in the future.

Thanks for the support everyone, I am getting close to my 12 posts as well as close to my truck completeing restoration.

I can't wait!!

This forum has already been a resource for me. With such a specialized, custom job, word of mouth and freindly advice is the only way to increase knowledge.

But, that's what I love about it. My objective is to get me into a machine that will put me in wilderness that your average off-the-line truck cannot reach.

Those that I will see out there, I will know are my people!
  Cheers!

IF YOUR LOOKING OUT THE FRONT OF YOUR 4X4 AND YOU CANT SEE THEN JUST TURN ON YOUR WIPERS. BUT THEN THINGS GET ALL MESSED UP LIKE IN LIFE.

WHEN YOU GET TO THE END OF YOUR ROPE JUST THINK THAT ALONG TIME AGO  YOU WERE THE FASTEST LITTLE SWIMMER TO THE EGG
