Ordering me one right now.  Big Mike said shipping is free to Kauai... :lipsrsealed:
Hey Blake, did you test drive your buddy Kyle's? Also I agree that FedEx should start offering free shipping to Hawaii

Well shipping speed was slow.  BUT, It is worth waiting for a good product.  Just got my shifter today.  I hope I have time tomorrow to install it.

I can't wait, mine is getting sloppy.  Thank you Marlin Crawler   Base plate looks well made and pretty.  To bad it'll be covered up.

BigMike, I will have my friend Kyle test drive after install.  See if I can get him on the  :turtle: bandwagon.  I might have to go bang some gears on the beach when no ones around.

You should have a few instructions.  My question--------loctite on the bolts?  I'm guessing no.  FSM torque specs if they have them?

I have OCD when my trucks and tools are concerned.

You should have a few instructions.  My question--------loctite on the bolts?  I'm guessing no.  FSM torque specs if they have them?

I have OCD when my trucks and tools are concerned.
The most comprehensive directions we have are for our G- and R-series short throw kits located here:
https://www.marlincrawler.com/tech/guide/transmission-short-throw-shifter-kit-installer

We do have brief instructions for our W56-A/B short throw kits here:
https://www.marlincrawler.com/tech/guide/transmission-short-throw-shifter-kit-installer-w56-and-w56-b-applications

I will add some extra info tomorrow such as torque specs, which are included at Step 18 of our G- & R- installer (12 ft-lbs, no loctite).

Do i send my core shifter back to N. Maple Ave?
That's a big 10-4 Foxtrot Zulu Milkshake.

I know I'm over the 30 day limit on the core charge.  I was in the hospital.

Do you want the old shifter?  You can have it for the cost of shipping.  I won't need it.

Hey Blake,

Yes we would like to have your old shifter back, and also don't worry too much about the core charge. You are out in the ocean and we'll be happy to give ya the full core refund. Refund should be $100 I believe, so if you can spend the $20? to get it in the cheapest snail-mail method then we'll refund the full $100, or we could send an electronic call tag and have our FedEx driver pick it up from your door and subtract our shipping charges from the $100 and refund ya the remainder. Either way works for us, but I think FedEx charges us $4 or $5 bucks to send the driver to your house. :headscratch:

Let me know what you prefer and thanks for the continued support good buddy :beerchug:

Regards,
BigMike

Thanks Mike.  I called in.  The guy I talked to said it would go out this last thursday.  Should be here soon.  I'm still enjoying the shifter.

I'd like to enjoy a rear bumper too......hint hint :teeth:

I am intrigued; there is currently minimal slop in my stock shifter (I already have the MC HD seat and socket installed and that was an improvement after 225000+ kms) so am I still looking at 60% less travel or will it be less than 60% (given that I already have the MC seat and socket installed)?

I have since calculated the reduction in throw to be 40% compared to the stock pattern (both forward-rearward and side-to-side). While our Heavy Duty Shifter Seats (link) and Sockets (link) minimize play once in gear, they do not minimize the distance between each gear position.

So the two are unrelated. Perhaps a good way to express the difference with the short throw would be to remember how much of an improvement our HD seat & socket made and then multiply that by about two

BigMike

So I have a quick question.....are the shifters for the 1995-2004 4WD 5VZ-FE R150F Transmission & the 1988-1995 4WD 3VZ-ER150F Transmission the same or are they interchangeable?  I have a 1997 3.4L 5 speed SR5, original owner.

It's a great question :yesnod: and cool to be speaking to an original owner. You happen to be lucky in that these two applications are interchangeable. Usually the bend of the handle is to the right in one application and to the left in another, but both 6cyl applications you listed feature the same handle bend direction so they may be safely interchanged as needed

Just tried to install my short throw kit, but ran up against a problem after exposing the shifter base.  Can't get the 4 supposedly 12mm bolts off.  Right rear passenger side loosened easily enough with a socket, but the front two are inaccessible even with a flex head wrench (had to buy the metric set).  Sheet metal surround is directly over the bolts and the shifter body blocks wrench access from the rear.  Rear driver side does not seem to be 12mm or at least the socket won't hold.  I guess I'm going to have to get a pro to do this work.
