Saw these on a chreokee in "crawl" mag sometime last year.  Like the idea of putting them in frame.

Just an update if anyone is still following.  Been driving and wheeling every weekend and the sliders have been holding up.  no signs of wear.

These still fascinate me.  I have a Chevy 63 swap waiting for my Tacoma.  I'm still on IFS and wonder if the rear would be too high(You can only pull so many leafs out of the pack).

Sliders may get me the ride height I need.

locked 4x4, have you installed a set in the front yet? I'm curious what affect they have on handling and steering response.

Regards,
BigMike

i have always wanted to try some of these on a front of a crawler. i think if you frenched them into the fram where the shackle is now it could greatly help ride height and pinion angle. this might be worth building and trying out to see how they work. i might just have to build some and see how they work.

the front of my truck sits higher than i would like right now. i might have to try and find some UHMW and build some.

I have had the slider boxes on the front axle since the beginning and the willys handles like it is on rails.  The steering is nice an tight.  The only handling issues I have been having lately is axle wrap in the back.  I want to install a traction bar but I also want to switch out to the ifs rear end to get a little extra width so ive just been dealing with it for now.  Couple wheeling trips down and no sign of wear on the UHMW.  I was worried because the front slider boxes are right next to the headers but even the heat doesn't seem to affect it.

ryantowry_81   try amazon for the UHMW

here is the pirate thread for the build if anyone is interested.

I always wondered how they would work on a wheeling truck since I saw them on cars at the local dirt track.  Looks like they work pretty well.  I'll try to snap a pic of the set-up used on the cars this weekend since it the first race ofthe summer.

There was a guy that dezert raced a 85 straight axle extra cab Toyota pickup That had some on his truck back in at least 97'. I ran into him at the first offroad swap meet in 99'. The guy said that it helps with the smaller woops or bumps, around 8". "Kind of like the top spring in a triple rate coilover.

Bumping this thread

Ive got TG front shackles that are blowing leaf bushings after every trip (no the bolts are not sleeved) rather than using weld washers and going through all that I want to run these on the front leafs.

https://liquidironindustries.com/Liquid-Iron-Industries-Universal-Slider-Box-Kit.html

It will help to lower my ride height as well. I have heard of a few guys running them up front but wanted to see if anyone has any feed back? I daily drive my rig and drive it to the Rubicon and Moab so I want to make sure it handles ok on the roads.

Thanks

My son installed these on my 87 4Runner. Front and rear. Its been 2years now. Moab twice, Roundup twice, there OK. There fine on the road as a daily driver. They lower your ride by a couple of inches, with long springs. They do snap and pop when flexed past there comfort zone.

Good to know, I asked Russ about these last night. Thanks Bob!
