2000 4Runner Rear Axle Bearings (ABS)
« on: Sep 05, 2012, 11:24:08 AM »
Has anyone done this? How much of a PITA are the spacers and tone ring to get on and off? Should I just bring the axles somewhere to have them removed and installed?  Thanks

Get new tone rings and cut old ones off. They bend really easy.
Otherwise if you've got a press it's the same.

Before you cut off the tone ring and collar, measure from backing plate to tone ring. The first time i did one with the abs tone ring, I pressed it back on too far...the collar is what the seal seals on. So if you press it on too far you will have a leak. Just a heads up when you do it.
