high temp?
« on: Aug 11, 2012, 08:21:25 AM »
what is wrong if the temp gauge is all the up? truck has new head and gasket about a month old. yesterday a.m.
i started the truck and noticed that the temp gauge was all the way up like the gas gauge when a vehicle has a full tank of gas. turned off the engine and removed the key and it started  to go down. when the key is on, it goes all the way up too. The comb meter was opened the other day, wires were removed and following day, this problem showed up. Yesterday afternoon on my to work, it was burping, lost power driving the freeway at 55 mph on 4th gear. thanx for any input.

Might be a faulty harness or the temp sensor itself is bad.

More likely the gauge is bad. It feed on a very fine copper wire that if the wire somehow break, the temp gauge will auto climbs to HOT even after 5 seconds from a cold start.
Going, going, gone
