Removal of 85 evap canister
« on: Mar 18, 2012, 11:41:19 AM »
I recently buggied the runner. Upon doving the front I had to relocate alot of the under hood equip. That included ditching the evap canister to make room for the fuse block.

So I just connected the two fuel lines together where the evap use to be. So all runs fine untill I top off the fuel tank. After some searching I understand it's a venting issue.

My question is there somthing out there I can install to vent at the fire wall? It's really not a huge issue but untill I burn a gal or so of fuel she sputters at a constant rpm. I just have to give it some throttle or not top her off.

Anybody deal with this or have solutions?

i just bypassed mine and ran the return line back to the fuel cell. The only problem i have is after the truck sits for a few months it has a hard time starting,i have to dump gas in the carb. But other than that no issues.

I have just removed the canister on 3 different trucks and let it vent off of the line with no issues at all...

So chum you just left the two lines unconnected and let it vent from there? Have you put the trucks in extreme angles with the fuel tank way above the motor?

It would be nice to get this little gremlin behind me.

I haven't gone that crazy, but you can plug the vent and run a vented gas cap.

That's exactly what I've done. After wheelin hard nose down raw fuel would flood the purge vac hose at the intake.

Capped of purge vac line.
Removed whole vent line.
Capped vent line at tank.

Already had vented gas cap. Runs like a champ!!
