not so newbe
« on: Mar 13, 2012, 11:39:21 PM »
I have been on here for a couple of years but haven't had anything to say, I have a 1989 4runner that i have owned for 18 years. It only has 80000 miles, i am in the process of rebuilding the engine, had the heads ported and intake match ported, rebuilt and balanced injectors, DOA racing cams, head studs.larger throttle body. it has a 3 inch lift with 33s, i am planning on 529 gears with Detroit locker and arb in front, ball joint spacers, just want a exspadition type rig for now. I will post pics after i get enough posts.

:welcome: and thanks for posting up

With only 80k miles, why are you rebuilding the engine? It just broke in and then you tore it apart

As you know the 3.slow always had head gasket problems and mine is no exception, the heads were leaking externally and i thought it was a good time to try and get a little more out of it, i am not doing the bottom end. My distint future plans are for a 3.4 supercharged swap and 5 speed but i want to get the rest of it dialed in first.

Picked up a doner 4 runner, paid too much for it but it had a lot of good parts, it has a 3.0 with a 5sp that runs great, i just want the 5sp for mine to convert later, also has a perfect dash pad and an auxiliary fuel tank in the back, dint know who makes the tank but but it will come in handy for my very thirsty 3.0 auto.. will post pics when i get enough posts up.

Welcome brother  :welcome: I can verify he has one sweet rig, the interior is in perfect shape. I bought my runner a few months ago so we could run together and I too am having my 22re head and intake ported and polished by the same shop, they did such an awesome job on his 3.slow. Will see how much HP it will add to an already great performing 22re. Gald to see u on here bro  :usa:
