I have an extra shifter and shifter base from a W56B, that's the top-shift transfercase style from 86 to 88.  It's in working condition, with a knob (no gear pattern placard), and the shifter ball seat and shifter lever socket are gone.  Luckily Marlin sells them!  I can email you pictures if you want to see what I've got.
