My 87 had a Marlin Crawler transmission in it, custom exhaust, a killer sound system, brand new interior (replaced pretty much everything at an upholstery shop as the previous owner owned a candle-making business and hauled supplies in it when not wheeling it) and quite a few mods.  Zero damage, and it passed smog.

I got $2700 for it when I sold it.  Yours is unfortunately worth about $2000, if that.  Closer to $1500 if it doesn't pass smog.  Now, I'm not trying to be mean or anything.  If you find someone to buy it for $3500, by all means do so.  Just, it's going to be a scenario where you drop the price by $100 and $200 every few weeks until six months have gone by and you're at $1900 or so.

i did an efi conversion on an 82 with a fresh rebuilt 95 22re. tried to get my money back from the truck and swap, needless to say I took a bath on the whole thing just like you described. but to be fair he can ask whatever he wants for this truck!

I didn't take a bath, really.  It was a great vehicle for several years, and it added up to about $150 a month in repairs and upkeep.   Far less than a car payment.  I finally sold it as the electrical systems in what was basically a cheap basic truck with a shell and some suspension and 4wd added to it(that was never designed to last 15 years, let alone almost 25) finally started to erode past the point where I could keep up with the repairs.

My next one will likely be an early 2000s Tacoma, which at 10+ years newer should be usable for quite a few years before it starts having similar problems.

Yeah, that was the old rig.  Hence why I need a new one.  It was just not starting all the time and the relays and harness and so on... all slowly coming apart from too many years of California Smog.

I'm in SoCal (Newbury Park).. interested, but not at the current price.  How many miles on the vehicle? Is title clean? So many questions...
