I have a 98 4runner sr5 5 speed 3.4 blah blah blah. Anyways I'm looking at doing a sas on it some time in the next year or so. I have a few questions and I've been looking at builds but no one really shows or takes time to explain a few things. So here we go.
1. For steering, first off can I use a ifs bracket mount that marlin, allpro sell for the pre 95 trucks? How do you go about hooking up the colum to the ifs box, is it a custom job or can I take 2 steering shafts from a ifs rig and cut and weld and sleeve them to get it to work? Will my 3.4 ps pump and lines work with the ifs box or do I have mod a 22re/3.0 pump to fit and get custom lines?
2. Will the spring hangers from a ifs to sas style idea work? Can I put holes though my frame for the shackle tubes or should I go shackle mounts below frame?
3. What do I have to do to my oil pan and pickup and dip stick? From my understanding and correct me if I'm wrong I use the 3.4 t100 2wd stuff? I'll be buying new oem parts from toyota for this. I do not really want to cut and weld my oil pan and do hokey backyard stuff.
4. Rear suspension if I ever get sick of the factory link set up. What do most you guys run chevy 63s? are they enough to hold up the weight of a runner(I carry about 350-500 extra pounds around alot chain saw chains, tools, people dogs, hunting gear ect...) and will a standard chevy 63" mounting set up work like from datin fab or skys?
5. No really a question but what I'm planning is a 85 front axle with 4.30s and a elocker longs and marlin high steer going duals or at least right hand drop case. From what I remember seeing at bone yards the 3.4 t100 4wds had a pass side drop can I use their trans and tcase or is it something special they have?
Thank you guys for any tips links or ideas. I have 2 sas's under my belt on 3rd gen 4wd trucks so cutting welding ect... is not a issue I just don't have the time or tools to fab up my own parts I'd rather buy everything and take a week off work to sas it and get everything sorted out.
