Loc-Rite and Aussie's aren't bad.

Do yourself a favor and spring the extra cash for a Detroit.  :twocents:

Good luck

Its a catch 22. Sure an aussie, spool, lockright, etc are cheaper but your probably gonna end up swaping a detriot or selectable into it later. I wish i would have saved up and did it right the first time and not had to spend money twice.  I ended up spending more money by doing it twice as opposed to just getting the good stuff the first time.
83 shorbed pickup. 22 re swap. Dual ultimates, l52hd tranny, 5 " marlin trailflex lift. Yukon 529. Grizzly in rear zip locker front. And a bunch of other stuff....

If you are on a budget and cant afford a locker weld it. Make sure that you weld it good enough to be abused. I have never broke a welded diff but I go to the extreme and weld 1/4" plates in mine with .080 dual sheild or a stick welder with hard rod. I have a welded diff in the front of mine and e-locker in the rear. I am saving up to do another e-locker in the front and welded only costs tear down and gear oil, and wire or rod to weld it. If you have any questions on how to weld it strong enough there is video's on youtube.

I'd look for a used detroit.  They always seam to show up.  That way you don't have to upgrade later.
