Wheel is leaning
« on: Mar 04, 2012, 12:04:28 PM »
Okay, so ever since christmas time, I have been having issues with the front end of my 83 pickup. It all starte with a blown trunnion bearing and has since become new trunnions, new wheel bearings, new spindle, and a new hub assembly. Now my wheel is leaning in to where the top of my tire is pointing towards the motor and the bottom end of it is facing out. As I drive my truck, this is causing my tire to squeal down the street as if the breaks are on. I cannot figure out what the issue is at this point. Any info would be awesome. Thanks guys, Ted.

Seriously bent axle? Really, really bad shim placement? Bad trunnions? Maybe they weren't installed correctly? Pictures would probably help! Oh and it's *leaning not leening.

Definitely not the axle or the trunnions, Ill check the shims. Thanks for the grammar check.

bad toe could cause the squeal, but the camber you say you have would be from a bent housing more than likely

Have you checked the trunion bearings? Jack it up and see if there is any wheel shaking when you grab it at 12:00 and 6:00. Someone I met on the trail was having the same problem, jacked it up and it was shaking at the T-bearings, he had not seated the races all the way into the housing. Also check the toe-in on it, 1/8-1/4 inch toe in.
