Yeah, 1.5" I believe from the flange and then it all goes into 1 which tapers into the turbo flange..

I'd take a look @ the intercoolers if you send me a pic!

Do intercoolers do that well on slow crawlers?  Should I hook up a fan for the intercooler?  Think 6-8 psi...

Seems like with hardly moving at times there wouldn't be much air flow through the cooler.  I have a trans cooler fan from an auto 4runner that would be perfect for a small intercooler if it is necessary.

Be interesting to see how much boost you can run before you loose throttle control and just have power and unwanted tire spin from the turbo hit. Never ran a turbo but it seems that the torque/power hits hard all at once???? I ran a big block built for low end in a wheeler and all it seemed to want to do is spin 35" tires. I think you need to be able to control it/spin. My ideal power/torque curve would be like a giant electric motor smooth and consistent at all rpm's. Seems most of the high boost RZ's are all about drag racing performance. Oh yeah forgot to mention manifold tubing parts are on the way.

I will be really happy if I ever reach that point where it cooks the tires when I look @ the skinny peddle.  I have noticed that the boost does seem to creep up instead of just pegging out @ my wopping 4 psi.  Of course if there is a lot of load its usually full boost immediately, but it is so controllable and smooth.  Turbo size will help dictate when the power kicks in.  I went for a small turbo that spools at low rpm because it has such a small hot side.  The guys going balls to the nuts have bigger hot side probably to allow more heat and burnt air fuel volume to escape is my guess?  They probably have a higher stall converter so they would have higher rpm before a load is put on the motor causing boost to spike.. I dunno, just thinking on paper at this point.  It's fun you won't regret it, that is all you need to know right now, I'll be watching for this manifold build! :sofa:

Well, I am looking at buying a winch to slap on this haus.  I don't want to spend $800-1000 on a warn, so I am looking at Smittybilt and T-max right now.

The Shitty Smitty 9500# XRC 6.6hp w/ 100 ft. synthetic line weight 46lbs. and is $465 shipped to me.

The T-max is an 8500# with a 5.5 hp w/100 ft. synthetic line weight 66 lbs and is $466 shipped to me.

The smitty boasts a waterproof rating submersible up to 30 min. while the T-max says nothing of the sort.

Smitty also throws in a lifetime mechanical warranty and 3 year electrical warranty.

I've also got a very lightly used Warm M8000 I can swoop for $400 with no fairlead or line, just the winch and remote comtrol...  I am open to opinions or even story's about your brothers baby's grandkids experience...

I know man... I could get the warn m8000 for $400 and do the cheaper synthetic line for around $100.  The M8000 is selling for $579 new with cable and roller fairlead both of which I don't want... That is the quandry I am in, I would really prefer synthetic rope vs. cable just for the safety factor and lighter weight.

I agree with you on the synthetic... I'll be going that route if I ever get the time to get the 4runner done... Go for the Warn if its in good shape!

I think Im gonna order a smittybuilt.  I know you usually get what you pay for... and there is a time for spending extra money, but sometimes your just paying mostly for a name.  Im hoping thats the case with winches.
I used to diss on the cheap amazon light bars and LEDs.  Then a buddy of mine got three of them, one on his rzr 800 which I borrowed.  I jumped that thing, took so many hard hits, drove it in the pouring rain for three days and it worked flawlessly.  All for 1/3 of the price of a rigid.  Hes had it for almost a year now.  No problems at all.

I too have some cheap Led lights on my crawler and I like the heck outta them.  I have some experience with the smittybilt's and it was all good.  I however have a friend who has several winches and being in Oregon (where Warn is made) he has kind of talked me into buying the Warn.  He said a couple things that stand out.  He has 3 winches and the oldest and most used 1 is a Warn.  It still works great and the other 2 work, but they have become finicky.  He said he could fix them, but he can't find parts.

The Warn I am looking at was purchased new (2006), used one season on the back of a rig and then sat in the garage for 7 years.  The pics look like it is in really clean shape.  I have tried to haggle, but $400 seems to be the bottom dollar.  I think I am going to spring on it for 2 reasons.

1. The m8000 has been proven and is a solid 8,000 lbs winch which I can find parts for plus I can get the original receipt for the lifetime mechanical warranty  :yesnod::yesnod:

2. Made in USA is cool to me and I will not have to mess with cable since it has no line I can purchase my desired synthetic and not have to eat the cost of the stock line or roller fairlead which comes with the new purchase on the Smitty.

In my research I looked at the new Warn VR8000 compared to the M8000 and it's hands down the M8000 has a better motor, electronics and line speed/duty cycle.  So for about $35 more I should have a reliable long lasting recovery machine.

I bet the smittybilt would do everything I ask from it, but there is that unknown where as the Warn is already a proven good thing and is available right now to me.
