We had a GREAT time at this year's King Of The Hammers. Thanks to our smart driving, co-piloting, patience in preparing the rig and our use of reliable Marlin Crawler products, we finished yet another King Of The Hammers becoming the ONLY team in the world to have completed all SIX events! A H-U-G-E accomplishment! Great job to everyone and we can't wait for next year!

Here is our driver John (desertoy) & co-pilot Mike Hendricks (F-Toy designer & owner of http://hendrixmotorsports.com) getting the buggy warmed up early Friday morning.

Brendan (freds40) and Hobie are all smiles this early in the morning

There were rigs lined up everywhere in main camp. Nearly 140 rigs entered the race this year making it the largest KOH ever!

No sooner did our buggy warm up, and it started running on 3 cylinders. So Marlin started tracing wires everywhere and making sure everything was plugged in tight.
He quickly discovered that cylinder #2 was dead. First Marlin tested for spark, it was good.

Then I climbed up and started listening to the #2 injector with a
long extension. It wasn't working!

I plugged a different injector wire into the #2 injector, still not working! So it wasn't the wiring and it wasn't working, so out came
injector #2!

You can see the dead injector in my right hand here. Fortunately, a super cool customer Mr. Paul Morgan walked up and said he has a 2RZ-FE back at camp that we can rob injectors
from! Thank you Paul! We couldn't have done this without you! We slapped in all four of Paul's injectors and she fired right up and started purring.

John and co-pilot Mike remained calm the entire time.

The 2RZ injectors were smaller than the 5S-FE injectors John had fitted to the engine for the Turbo conversion, but they were able to increase the fuel mixture on the fly
with the SDS digital controller. But we were able to bring it back to life and get the boys on their way!

Here is a video from this moment before the race:

While we were fixing our injector issue, this is what the starting line looked like.

After we brought cylinder #2 back to life, here is a video start to this year's KING OF THE HAMMERS!!

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/8cDhqwQpqAA?version=3&amp;amp;hl=en_US&amp;amp;rel=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="bbc_link bbc_flash_disabled new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/8cDhqwQpqAA?version=3&amp;amp;hl=en_US&amp;amp;rel=0</a>

I was pleased to see steel rails and a very large distance between the spectators and the race track. They definitely had a high priority on safety!

After all the rigs had left, back in the main camp live footage began beaming in from various canyons on the race track.

This was the place to be if you were hanging out in camp! Pull up a chair and enjoy the show!!

Here are various pics from main camp / vendor / food areas

It was inevitable for an event as large as this to have a major traffic jam somewhere, which occurred at Chocolate Thunder canyon, so we took off to join in on all the fun!

Here is the make shift parking lot! WOW!

Here are various pics that I thought were cool

Later in the afternoon we heard reports that our buggy had to change out a flat tire. This is the first flat tire we've ever had at KOH!
So we hopped in Rick "The General"'s 4Runner truggy and headed out to meet John.

Here we are at Pit 2A.

Here is In The Pink Racing coming through the pits! This is a leaf spring Formula Toy with our race transmission!

Then we drove around and searched for our buggy.... and found it snaking its way up Chocolate Mountain! John and Mike make an excellent team together and were doing great!

Here is the video footage from this exact moment:

Here is a shot back towards main camp. It was dusty.... made worse due to a lack of rain this season.

Here we are at the entrance to Lower Big Johnson waiting for our buggy to roll by. It was getting dark quick!

...and here we are back at Pit 2A checking things out for John and Mike.

John reported that the ARB air compressor had stopped working and that they had no rear locker for the past 3 or 4 canyons! So we jumped in and connected their Power Tank
directly to the rear diff turning the ARB into a spool locker.

Here is a nice shot of the two families who sacrifice a good part of their year to make this a reality! Thank you to everyone!! Being the only team to finish all 6 events, all everyone's hard work has paid off huge dividends!

Of the 136 rigs that started the event, only 49 finished before the 9:30pm cutoff time! Nearly 2 out of every 3 rigs failed to finish :o

The starting order was chosen based on a two day time trial event. We were one of 6 teams who decided not to qualify, instead choosing to be randomly positioned. As a result, our starting position was picked to be #107. The race started at 8am with 2 rigs taking off every 30 seconds. We were supposed to launch with In The Pink racing at 8:26:30am, but due to the injector failure, we didn't start until 9:21am.
Officially, we finished in 30th place! AWESOME JOB GUYS!!! :woohoo:

If we discredit our 54min late start, then we had a potential finishing time good for 21st position :clap2: :booya: How cool is that?!!!!!! :turtle: :driving: :burnout:

Great report Michael!!!!

It was awesome hearing all the cheers from Marlin Crawler fans out on the course. Thanks everyone for your support. From Marlin Crawler's financial and parts support, to the guy that loaned us a set of injectors at the start line (Paul Morgan), we wouldn't have finished the race this year if it wasn't for the combined effort of many.
