Ring and Pinion gears
« on: Feb 10, 2012, 10:45:53 PM »
I have been running 529 gears for about 10 years and broke at least 6 sets. I changed to 410 and Im requesting opinions of what is going to brake next. Im running a LCE big bore 22re, turbo trans, dual cases with stock gears and 23 spline in and out. Axles are Detroit locked cromo 30 spline.
Built by karnage, broke by karnage.

Its a trail rig only.
Im also thinking out put shaft and that would suck.
I have an importunity to buy a gm 12 bolt with cromo and detriot and 410s. So i was thinking change the r&p to 513.
Put a d44 in front with 513 also, this should be easier on the tcase and trans, rite?

Don't even mess with that 12 bolt. Just get a 14 bolt for like $100 bucks and weld it up, way stronger than a built 12 bolt. I would do......

something like this instead. Your toyota stuff should be built enough to be as strong or stronger as the axles you mentioned. Just send your gears to Longfield's before you set them up next time.

Or go one tons  :smokin: :talkingn:

Sounds like you need to step up to the 14 bolt and a Dana 60...

who is setting up your gears?

there is a lot of breakage attributted to improper gear setup...

I dont think its gear set up because one set was a complete hp drop in from marlin and the others where all installed by different people.
I have seen friends running cryoed gears and it seems they are always chipped badly until failure.
If i can make these gears last 6 months then i will go with a 60 14 bolt combo. then I can hammer down anytime with my 22re. :burnout:
