I started this thred because i have a 81 toyota that i want to give a little more flex... the previous owner added three leafs in the rear which made the truck flex like
fortunetly the truck has teraflex shakles so it is ok off road... thats not the point
the question is what are the pros and cons of lift blocks.

shitlbuffout-A saying among 4x4 and off road enthusiasts. Its said after damage normally cosmetic to minor parts damage has occurred on there rig or vehicle. Shitlbuffout is :pokinit: will buff out as in the :pokinit: being the damage will buff as in painted over cleaned polished or "buffed" out.

The benefit is that everyone will think you're a poser, the main drawbacks are axle wrap and that everyone will think you're a poser...

Axle wrap you can taste, and you can always prove them wrong when they call you a poser.

I have them on mine with chevy springs, Got me the lift I needed. I don't have any problems with axle wrap yet. That don't mean I won't.

I don't really want them on the truck but for now they work great. My truck is not a poser truck, It'll go and dose. :twocents:

FYI if you do decide to run blocks do not get aluminum the load on the ends will round them off and then not only will that create even more wrap they can come loose.

blocks will add a lot of stress to your axles and driveline and everyone hates them, but they are not remotely as horrible as people make them out to be. as long as you don't go over 3 inches or so on the block height then it won't have any real terrible effects and you will be able to fit larger tires in your wheel wells. I say go for it

I've been running 3 inch blocks under my 63s for the past 7 years. It was daily driven for 3 years and been driven on the trail only for 4 years. Never had any problems with axle wrap or anything else. I would recommend blocks, as long as its not a heavy rig with a v8.

Something to chew on with this.   My stock 1977 Ford F150 4X4 LWB has lift blocks on it installed by Ford, If they were as bad as some people make them out to be, would a major company install them new? Things to ponder I suppose.

Funny you mention that, my 05 dodge ram 2500 TD also has 2 inch lift blocks in the back from the factory.

Most new trucks have "lift" blocks in the rear. They also have stiff leaves that aren't meant for offroading and a long wheelbase. Also a lot of them have overload springs on top of the pack which would help with axle wrap.

Nope. That'll be awful for ride. How newer overloads on top of the pack are, is that it is a very arched spring that hits a mount above it (landing pad for lack of a better term) and that begins to carry the load or present wrap. If you put a overload that goes under the pack on top then it will severely limit the packs performance and most likely life of the springs.
