New 4 runner owner with some problems
« on: Dec 02, 2011, 09:13:20 AM »
Hey guys new to the site and really like all the info that is on here!! I just recently bought a 22rte. All the specs of the truck are listed below:

stock Turbo (New about 250 miles ago), new short block (about 250 miles on it)
Enginebldr performance head and cam, LC Engineering larger throttle body, New vacuum lines
LC block off plate for the EGR (removed all EGR), KnN Intake cone filter
New Cap, Rotor, Plugs, Wires, and MSD Coil (Denso or NGK plugs...dont remember which one)

When i got the truck it just doesn't seem to run right. It starts with just a turn of the key on cold starts. Will idle for about 30 secs then idle rough like its missing. But for warm starts some times you need to pump the peddle and it will idel real rough. SO the first thing i did was look over the vac lines and did a little re-adjusting, no change. Just to make sure i didn't have any leaks i sprayed carb cleaner on every vac connection, no change. So i took the tps off read the article and adjusted it to range, still same bad running conditions. I redid timing. I checked the MAF, checked good. Any other ideas? ? below are videos of the truck running. Cold start and warm start.

First video is cold start at 50degrees out side temp. This was the first start in three weeks. Fired right up idled fine for about 1min then got rough. But continued to run.

Second video was running for a bit to get to operating temp, then shut off and warm start.

Its kind random. sometimes it will idel rougher than others. seems like its fighting itself.

Any help would b great appreciated.

Thanks Kyle

You might want to try the Pirate board also. Try searching on there before asking questions cause they are not always friendly. :flamer:
