F250 Build and Q's?
« on: Oct 17, 2011, 01:17:37 PM »
I got an 04 F250, its got 6" fabtech, K&N intake, after market turbo and exhuast. Im told the dealer ship dont warranty unless I run their Cetain or something? I also hear its great for the motors to mix in 2 stroke oil with deisel? Also what you doing with Oil cooler problems and Egr problems to prevent seriouse issues?

now that there is cali smog, it really screws you on fixing any of the issues with the egr.  all you can do is a egr delete(won't pass smog), or keep an eye on it and replace it when it starts leaking. not sure on the rest.  ask awhotrods to chime in.

The EGR system on the 6.0 is garbage and needs to be removed.  RCD makes a nice kit, keep the oil clean & cooler/injectors last longer.

I add roughly 0.5oz/gallon to every tank TC W3 ashless 2stroke oil from walmart and what ever the diesel kleen says per galon. I have ran it in my 01 7.3 powerjoke, my 00 24valve dodge, my 04 common rail, and my 97 12 valve. it has improved mpg on all of them when i run it.

You should also get a monitor to keep an eye on your EOT/EWT. BPD make good stuff to replace your EGR and oil coolers and keep you emissions legal too.

What are those EOT,  EWT? Im pretty sure I  can read them through the Iquad, and set alarms to make sure they don't go over.

EOT: Engine Oil Temperature
EWT: Engine Water Temperature

These 2 readings should not be more than a 15* delta once warmed up and at aprox 65MPH. As they get closer to the 15* delta it's an indication that your oil cooler may be starting to plug up and will eventully take out the EGR cooler also.

This site has a lot of good info: http://www.powerstroke.org/

Just and FYI if you don't already know EGR deletes, block offs, etc are not emissions legal. If you have to test you may fail......

Adrenaline in level 6 will burn my tires. That's only 30 extra hp according to the book . You guys got any recommendations on what coolant to use when I flush my system and add filter. I heard there alot better ones that won't flash buil when your hammering down.

Lately i have had the worst luck ever, Some kids on their way to school couldnt see my ford with sun in their eyes. Sheered my shackle hanger off the frame and ripped axle out, broke to of the leafs in half and smashed in my bed.

Still waiting to hear from the shop, possible bent frame, the truck was in park with no Ebrake on and got pushed about 5 feet, so possible tranny damage also. This has literally been the worst week of my life, one thing after another. Hope my luck turns around soon.

I won't damage the trans, it may break the pin but the trans would still be Ok. As long as the pinlock is still good it probably only slid on the locked tires.

Ouch! That's not as bad as I was expecting. They are only replacing the bedside or the entire bed?

Take it down to Sierra auto body on 4th st and talk to butch. He's a good guy and one of the only body guys I would trust to do a good job.

Got truck back the other day, Ended up with new axle and all hardware hooked to it, 2 new bed sides, 2 new rear tires and a few other new bed peices and tail lights. Was a little over $7k in damage and took 7 weeks to fix but im pleased with the work. I noticed a small click in My D60 front axle on drivers side whenever i hit a big bump, any thoughts? also my fan seems to have lost some power, Im going to call up imsuriance and see if theyll take a look. Heres a pic at the beach and a flex shot with my daughter
