Have 86 runner 22re, reverse will not work when 4low. Everything else works fine. Dont see that being important but maybe usefull.. Its bugging me what could be wrong???

I dont feel like anything is hitting i have to recheck and recheck. It has a 3 inch body lift can that add to the problem?

That usually causes more problems with the t-case shifter than with the tranny shifter.

body lift is prob the problem actually... My friend had a body lifted 1st gen that did the same thing. in low, you would throw it in reverse and the shift boot would pull it into neutral in the tcase..

So i guess my next question would be, without moving the 4wd lever can u put it into a forward gear and move?

to me it sounds like your getting pulled out of gear in the t case

Take the shifter boots off and see if that helps.

I have a buddy who has no shift knob on the tcase so it doesnt knock it into neutral..

Damn shifter i carefully look at it and played with it. Its the lift like you guys said and the shifter putting it back in neutral... U guys are great... Worried sick man.... Thanks.

   Make sure there is plenty of clearance, between body and shifters.  If your under heavy load, your body may shift for you, and send you into a situation.

Always my friends truck a 2wd body on a 4x4 frame with a very very small body lift.
