Cutting out ?
« on: Jul 05, 2011, 07:42:54 AM »
I have A 85 PU with a 22r engine.  About 5 months ago I was on a snow run and the fuel pump went out. A couple of my buddies went in to town and picked me up a new one that was installed in the field.  I drove the rig out and to the nearest town without any problems. We stopped and got a bite to eat truck fired up no problem went about 5 miles and it died ?  I could not get it to start. Had to trailer it home. Since then I have replaced the wires, cap, rotor, coil, ignite, rebuilt the carb, replaced the rebuilt carb, replaced the new fuel pump, verified compression, checked grounds, I cant get it to run right. I just replaced the rebuilt carb over the weekend it ran great on Saturday, Fired the truck up this morning and it runs like crap. When I take off it sputters, But not all the time and it doesn't matter if it's hot or cold. It also cuts out under a load intermittently no correlation to warmed up or not.  Any body have any suggestions ? Oh and prior to the fuel pump going out this thing ran perfect  :help:

I will check it out. I can't hear any rattling but I guess that doesn't mean it's not clogged ?

 Thanks
