89 pick up 22re electrical issues
« on: Jun 04, 2011, 01:02:54 PM »
the other day my buddys check engine light was on in his truck so i was using a paper clip to jump the terminals in the diagnostic box . I wasnt sure which ones i needed to jump and i was too lazy to look so i just guessed. After jumping a few terminals i couldnt get the light to blink so we kinda just gave up. the next day  he called me and said that now his check engine light, gas gauge, temp guage  and fan blower motor doesnt work at all. we checked the fuses and couldnt find any blown  and electrical is not really my thing so i was wondering if anyone had any experience with jumping the wrong terminals in the diagnostic box and making stuff not work.  Thanks

When you open the cap to use the jump wire, there should be a diagram inside the cap that shows you which two terminal to jump.  What about the main realy?
