RF1A transfercase
« on: May 18, 2011, 08:46:16 PM »
Hi guys, my rig is a 95 hilux ln106, my transfercase got a big crack on the crawler housing due to a front collision accident,  would like to know my other options coz the rf1a forward shift xfercase is very hard to come by.
is the top shift not interchangeable to the forward shift transfercase.

all rf1a cases are identical (all 4cyl cases in the US) the difference in a top shift vs foreword shift is in the shift rails internal to the case.

Judging by the fact that yours is a diesel you are not located in the U.S. However if you know the exact parts you need they are relatively plentiful here and can probably be shipped. a complete case averages $100 USD.

Call/e-mail the marlin guys and see if they can help.

@ zach,
what if i bought a top shift rf1a, will i be able to mate it to the g52 transmission? im aware that i will drill new hole furhter back for the xfercase shifter...or just swap the crawl box instead? any links that has covered this convertion before
thanks again

you can just swap the low range box, as long as the damage is just the housing.  If the damage is internal then you would have to replace those parts as well. I would be concerned over the straightness of the long shift forks and them binding in the case.

good luck
