Steering Wheel swapping
« on: May 14, 2011, 06:46:29 AM »
I'm wanting to change out my 13" Grant steering wheel for a stocker(the grant was in there when i bought it and I don't know the size).  I have an 83 1st gen truck and wanting to know what yrs of wheels will fit on my column?

i am pretty sure it is all about the spline count, just about any toyota wheel will fit......

since your truck is an 83 why not just use a first gen wheel? 79-88 will all fit. splines changed in 89
80 shortbed-22re,w56,Marlin 23 spline dual cases,HighAngle drivelines,RUF/63"chevy's,35''mtr's,30 spline Longfields, Allpro highsteer.87 rear axle,5.29 gears,rear spool,BudBuilt cm, marlin HD clutch,ramsey 8000 winch.

So will a 91 work on an 83?  Reason I was wanting a 91 was because of all the extra buttons on the steering wheel to hook up to stuff.  What is the verdict on it fitting or not?

those extra buttons usually involve a complicated clock spring, not a simple wire hanging out the back. I have never taken one apart but I think it's a bad idea.

No idea on the spline count.
